Automation Engineer

Job Description

Location- Portland, OR or Winnfield, LA area

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain PLCs/DCS, HMI’s, VFD’s in an automated production process. Ability to interpret diagnostics, maintenance, troubleshoot non-functioning components including sensors, and control components. Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Use vendor support systems and work with vendors when extended support is required.
  • Experience working with tools, including hand and electrical tools with emphasis on instrumentation, control systems (PLC/DCS) debugging and repairs
  • Familiarity with chemical batch processing and/or paper web controls is a plus
  • Good computer skills.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, schematics and diagrams.
  • Log equipment usage, parts replacement, and scheduled maintenance to ensure maximum functionality
  • Periodically report to Operations/Plant Manager regarding automation capabilities and status

 
Qualifications and Skills:

  • 4-6 years’ experience in a E&I technician role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of OSHA regulations
  • Excellent follow through, judgment, and common sense. "Make it happen" attitude.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Degree/Associates degree in electrical/electronic technology or equivalent preferred.
