Typical duties:
• System configuring mainframe hardware and zOS software, including operating systems and middleware.
• System Upgrades and Patches: Performing system upgrades, applying patches, and ensuring the system is up-to-date with the latest security and performance enhancements.
• Monitoring system performance, analyzing metrics, and tuning the system to optimize performance.
• Managing user accounts, permissions, and ensuring secure access to the system.
• Data Management: Supporting development teams with the design, development, and maintenance of z/OS DB2 databases, including data analysis, modeling, and performance tuning.
• Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution: Identifying, diagnosing, and resolving system issues and errors to maintain system stability.
• Backup and Recovery: Managing data backups and ensuring reliable recovery processes are in place to protect against data loss.
• System Documentation: Maintaining detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and changes to ensure continuity and compliance.
• These duties require a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other IT professionals.
