Job Description

Title: Network Engineer

About the Role: Experienced and skilled Senior Network Engineer to manage, optimize, and support a complex IT and network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise with network design, troubleshooting, and the deployment of high availability, secure, and scalable solutions. This role is crucial to maintaining the integrity, efficiency, and security of a modern network environment, including domain controllers, physical and virtual infrastructure, and WAN devices / SD WAN devices, configurations, etc.
Location/Term: Onsite role (Somerset, New Jersey), 1 year+ commitment, 5-Days per wk (40 hours). Assume 1920 hours / year.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Infrastructure Management: (Requirement)
    • Manage and optimize HPE Aruba switching and wireless access points for efficient network performance.
    • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Palo Alto firewalls and Zscaler ZIA/ZPA solutions to maintain secure access across the organization.
    • Support WAN design and configuration, including remote access solutions, routing, and redundancies to ensure high availability.
    • Troubleshoot issues on HPE Aruba, Palo, Zscaler, Aryaka, including cloud controllers such as Aruba Central.
  • Domain Controller & Active Directory Management: (Nice to Have)
    • Manage multiple MS Domain Controllers (DCs)
  • DNS Management: (Nice to Have)
    • Manage DNS systems and configurations (public and private). (Nice to Have)
  • Security and Access Control: (Requirement)
    • Implement and manage network security protocols, including MACsec, 802.1x, and Network Access Control (NAC) systems to enforce robust access management and authentication policies.
    • Enhance user account policies by enforcing password complexity, history, and lockout settings.
    • Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize firewall policies, including application-based rules, URL filtering, and threat prevention
  • Virtual Infrastructure Support: (Requirement)
    • Maintain and upgrade VMware vCenter and ensure alignment with scalability and compliance requirements.
  • Quality of Service (QoS) and High Availability: (Requirement)
    • Configure QoS to prioritize critical applications and ensure optimal performance for essential services.
    • Design and implement high availability solutions across the physical and virtual network infrastructure.
  • Monitoring and Patch Management: (Requirement)
    • Deploy and manage centralized monitoring and patch management systems to maintain a secure and well-documented network environment.
    • Proactively identify and resolve issues with network performance, scalability, and security
    • Develop and maintain documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures documents
  • Troubleshooting and Support: (Requirement)
    • Provide advanced support for complex network issues, troubleshooting across both local and cloud-based systems to ensure network uptime and optimal performance.
    • Anticipate complex network and security issues, identify root causes, and implement timely resolutions to minimize downtime and service disruptions

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience as a Network Engineer
  • Strong hands-on experience in HPE Aruba switching, Aruba wireless solutions, Palo Alto firewalls, and Zscaler ZIA/ZPA, Arista, Cisco, Meraki (Nice to have)
  • Expertise in WAN design and configuration, cloud controller troubleshooting, and command-line interfaces for network devices.
  • Experience in data center networking and network security (eg…Arista, Palo Alto, HP Aruba, Cisco Meraki)
  • Proficiency in network protocols and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VTP, MPLS, VPNs)
  • Knowledge of security protocols such as MACsec, 802.1x, and NAC systems.
  • Proficiency in VMware vCenter administration and infrastructure upgrades.
  • QoS configuration experience for traffic prioritization and bandwidth management.
  • Strong knowledge of high availability network designs and disaster recovery planning.

Various Certifications (Preferred):

  • HPE Aruba Certified Switching Associate (ACSA) or Professional (ACSP).
  • Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE).
  • Zscaler Certified Cloud Professional (ZCCP) or Zscaler Certified Administrator (ZCCA).
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP/CCIE) or equivalent for WAN and network architecture.
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) for virtualization infrastructure.
  • Certifications in security protocols such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or Certified Network Security Professional (CNSP).
