Job Title: Load Balancer Engineer

Location: McLean, VA / Richmond, VA / New York, NY / Plano, TX / Chicago, IL (3 days a week onsite)

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Load Balancer Engineer specializing in F5 load balancing solutions to join our network engineering team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of F5 technologies, network infrastructure, and load balancing principles to optimize and secure traffic flow across enterprise environments.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Deploy: Architect, configure, and manage F5 load balancing solutions to ensure high availability and optimized performance.
  • Traffic Management: Analyze and manage network traffic, creating configurations that enhance load distribution, reduce latency, and improve application delivery.
  • Maintenance and Support: Perform regular maintenance on F5 appliances, apply software upgrades, and manage load balancer policies.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify, diagnose, and resolve load balancing issues; analyze logs and provide corrective actions for connectivity and performance issues.
  • Security and Compliance: Implement access control, SSL offloading, and other security protocols to protect network data and ensure compliance with security standards.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Document configurations, changes, and network topologies; generate reports for network performance and usage.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with network architects, system administrators, and security teams to design and implement scalable solutions.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in network engineering and at least 2 years of hands-on experience with load balancers, primarily F5 technologies.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of F5 BIG-IP, LTM, GTM, ASM, iRules, and SSL management.
  • Networking Protocols: Proficient in networking protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS, DNS, and SSL/TLS.
  • Troubleshooting Skills: Proven ability to troubleshoot complex network issues and optimize load balancer performance.
  • Certifications (Preferred): F5 Certified Administrator (F5-CA), Cisco CCNA, or equivalent networking certifications.

 

Desired Skills

  • Familiarity with other load balancing solutions (e.g., Citrix ADC, HAProxy, NGINX)
  • Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Python scripting) for network tasks
  • Understanding of cloud environments and hybrid infrastructures
