Job Summary
The Senior Scrum Master serves as a servant-leader, coach, and mentor for multiple Agile Scrum Teams, driving the delivery of IT and business products and solutions. This role involves facilitating Scrum ceremonies, removing impediments, fostering continuous improvement, and promoting Agile principles and practices. As a recognized Agile subject matter expert, the Senior Scrum Master will guide teams toward achieving Agile maturity and contribute to advancing Agile methodologies within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and support multiple Agile Scrum Teams on complex initiatives, consisting of internal and external (onshore and offshore) resources.
- Facilitate Scrum ceremonies and Agile practices, including daily standups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and cross-team coordination, ensuring adherence to Scrum values.
- Identify and resolve delivery impediments, escalating unresolved issues to senior leadership as needed.
- Manage risks and issues to ensure they do not recur, fostering a continuous improvement culture.
- Guide team members in Agile principles and Scrum practices, driving consistent velocity and maturity within teams.
- Monitor team health and project needs proactively, addressing areas for improvement.
- Serve as a thought leader and mentor on Agile processes, tools, and standards, contributing to the Agile Center of Excellence (COE) and Communities of Practice (COP).
- Collaborate with Product Owners to manage and prioritize backlogs, maintain relevant metrics, and ensure transparency around delivery progress.
- Build trusting and safe team environments, fostering strong relationships within teams and with key stakeholders.
- Promote quality delivery practices and manage conflict resolution within teams and stakeholders, escalating serious conflicts to leadership when necessary.
- Support adoption of best practices, such as automation and CI/CD pipelines, to improve efficiency and quality.
Education and Years of Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline; or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of four years of related work experience in project delivery within an enterprise IT environment, using Agile methodologies.
- Previous project management experience preferred.
Required Skills:
- Prior experience with Agile Scrum methodology in a Scrum Master role.
- Proven ability to serve as a servant-leader with strong coaching and mentoring skills.
- Experience delivering modern software for enterprises using Agile methodologies.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational skills and proficiency with Agile management tools such as Jira.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience applying application development best practices, such as automation and CI/CD pipelines..
- Familiarity with CNA guidelines and standards.
