What We Need
We’re looking for a highly skilled and driven Metrology Development Engineer to join our team. In this role, you'll deliver innovative metrology systems in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, rapidly learning and mastering various metrology systems as the subject matter expert. The ideal candidate has a strong background in metrology, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement. As part of our team, you ll develop and deploy metrology tools to capture high-volume, high-velocity data that predicts battery and process performance.
Responsibilities
- Develop, build, and maintain metrology tools to characterize critical battery components.
- Introduce new features and capabilities to existing and future metrology systems.
- Design and execute studies to improve metrology system throughput and accuracy.
- Collaborate with suppliers and third parties to integrate custom inspection systems and sensors with existing production equipment.
- Support production teams by troubleshooting tool issues, training users, and minimizing tool downtime with engineering controls.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: B.S. in Metrology, Optics, Mechatronics, Electrical or Systems Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field with 3+ years of professional experience, or a Master s degree with 1+ year of professional experience in a manufacturing or related setting.
- Strong communication skills with experience collaborating across cross-functional teams to solve complex challenges in dynamic environments.
- Experience with machine vision software (camera control, image processing) and/or imaging and characterization hardware (optical, acoustic, or thermal sensors).
- Proficiency with statistical methods applied to engineering problems using software such as JMP or R.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience in developing, validating, and releasing robust measurement systems.
- Familiarity with measurement systems analysis, statistical process control, and design of experiments.
- Experience or understanding of digital image processing or digital signal processing.
- Proficiency in scientific programming with Python, including libraries such as NumPy, matplotlib, pandas, cv2, and skimage.
