Job Title: SQL Server Database Administrator

Position Description: We are seeking a skilled SQL Server Database Administrator to manage and maintain production and non-production databases. The role involves designing and implementing data storage solutions, database access, security, and maintenance. You will perform backup and recovery operations, configure database parameters, and optimize performance to ensure the efficient functioning of databases. Additional responsibilities include assisting with web server administration for mission-critical applications, addressing escalated production issues, and assisting with the development lifecycle, capacity management, performance tuning, and security enhancements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all production and non-production databases, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
- Implement data storage standards and optimize performance for maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Configure, tune, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments (2014-2022+).
- Perform backup and restore operations, disaster recovery, and ensure data security and compliance.
- Develop and monitor SSIS packages and maintain SQL Reporting Services (SSRS).
- Provide expert troubleshooting and resolution for production database issues.
- Assist in the development lifecycle, including deployment and optimization of web applications.
- Implement operational standards and procedures and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
- Provide guidance to junior technical staff and act as a lead or advisor on database-related projects.
- Work collaboratively with other technical teams to resolve issues, optimize performance, and implement changes.
- Conduct cloud migration and integrate on-premises databases to Microsoft Azure.
- Maintain SQL Server security standards and perform encryption, backup, and recovery operations.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in SQL Server database administration and performance tuning (SQL Server 2016, 2019, 2022+).
- Experience with database fundamentals such as data models, schemas, normalization, and indexing.
- Strong experience with database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
- Proficiency in writing scripts for database automation and performance monitoring.
- Hands-on experience with on-premises to cloud migration, specifically Microsoft Azure.
- Strong knowledge of MS Internet Information Services (IIS), server administration, and web application deployment.
- Knowledge of SQL Server encryption, database security standards, and industry best practices.
- Experience with SSIS package creation, troubleshooting, and monitoring.
- Familiarity with PowerShell, database source control, and continuous integration tools.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a commitment to best practices.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with Snowflake.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to communicate with all levels of management.
Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.
Education Preferred:
- Microsoft Certification in SQL Server Database Administration.
