Data Center Decommissioning Engineer

 Description:

Support the removal of two large tape drives (Legacy Oracle Sun Drives---they are huge like the size of an apartment), each containing 8,000 tapes. Oracle will pick them up but you have to do all the prep work like disassemble and put the pieces on a pallet and remove the tapes and package them up to be sent to be shredded and remove.

Assist in the coordination of the electrical and fire suppression removal. Remove and prepare all tapes to be transported to propriety disposition.

 So this involves someone that has a lot of experience with coordination and scheduling and working with vendors.

 Conduct an inventory audit of assets in datacenters. Compare records between systems, and update as needed. Creating and maintaining rack-level diagrams for other service providers.

 

Conduct and import fiber trunk information into DC Track DCIM. (DCIM is Data Center Information Management and dcTrack is the Inventory Management SW they use that talks with ServiceNow) It maps where the fiber goes in the room

 

Support all physical aspects of IT equipment in Datacenters. This includes cabinet enclosures, servers, network routers

 

Prefer candidate with 3-5 years of production experience in mission critical datacenters.
