Job Description:
Overview:
The System Administrator (SA)primary focus will be post security incident remediation. The SA should possess an understanding of network and distributed computing concepts. This position will work with a team of technical staff that are responsible for Windows and Linux Servers and virtualization infrastructure. Primary focus will be in assisting with post security incident remediation, which includes but not limited to patching of legacy OS servers, updating required security configurations using AD Group Policy, setting up implementation schedules and coordinating with application teams, addressing vulnerabilities as defined by the Cyber Team and enterprise endpoint protection systems.

Additional Roles and Responsibilities:
• Performs installation, maintenance, and decommissioning windows server environment;
• Performs client onboarding and offboarding, Active Directory client permissions, and group policy creation and maintenance;
• Supports a highly virtualized server environment (VMware);
• Supports mission critical systems
• Supports patch management, and enterprise AV endpoint protection systems;
• Supports all phases of business continuity including backup/recovery/archival software, high availability clusters and hardware and software load balancing;
• Supports a large footprint of MS-SQL installation, including multiple clusters and AlwaysOn;
• Works with various divisions to support the IT infrastructure for the entire City of Long Beach;
• Supports cloud-based Infrastructure as a Service (IAAS) and Software as a Service (SAAS);
• Supports multiple data centers;
• Works with Rack and Stack and server connectivity; and,
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Technologies:

• Experience with Virtualization infrastructure, datacenters, cloud infrastructure services, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Windows/clusters, SQL and AlwaysOn;
• Experience in enterprise data center operations e.g. business continuity, disaster recovery planning and implementation, server security, virus and patch management;
• Experience in server hardware e.g. blade servers and chassis, standalone servers, hyper-converged server infrastructure and architecture, and fiber optics server connectivity;
• Knowledge of network topology related to server segmentation and interconnectivity, site to site VPN, and local, wide area network connectivity comprised of fiber, copper, cellular and radio waves;
• Knowledge of SAN concepts as it relates to severs.
