Windows System Engineer

Job Responsibilities:

As a member of the Windows Hosting Services Team, you will:

  • Implement and manage over 3,300 Windows servers in both physical and virtual (VMWare) environments.
  • Manage multiple strategic projects, including cloud compute/migration, service offerings for research compute, clinical application support, automation/configuration management, and orchestration strategies.
  • Report directly to the manager of the Windows Hosting Services Team.
  • Propose, design, develop, and support the Windows clinical and research server environment to provide tiered service offerings for mission-critical systems both on-premises and in the cloud.
  • Install and manage Windows server operating systems, and support software/services in both Windows and VMware infrastructure.
  • Support server infrastructure including blade chassis, blade and rack servers, and associated management services.
  • Develop scripts/tools necessary to extend functionality and automate day-to-day management of services.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience managing and supporting large environments with Windows Enterprise Servers in a complex, high-availability, enterprise environment.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Windows Server operating systems (2016, 2019, 2022).
  • Strong experience with cloud infrastructure, deployment, and management.
  • Experience deploying, maintaining, and supporting high-performance Windows systems.
  • Experience managing Server Hardware Management software.
  • Experience in scripting with PowerShell or PowerCLI.
  • Experience with VMware virtual server environments and configuring systems for maximum performance and operating flexibility.
  • Experience in HA clustered application/SQL environments from a server build and operations perspective.
  • Experience with SCCM and SCOM Management.
  • Proven technical leader with solid operating system administration skills and the ability to maintain a positive attitude while working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with networking technologies, particularly as they pertain to managing Windows systems and applications running on these systems.
  • Strong security awareness.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Healthcare industry experience strongly preferred.
