Seeking a Senior Windows Server System Administrator for an Onsite Assignment in Washington, DC

 

The ideal candidate is a DC resident who has 16+ years of experience preparing complex technical documentation, 7+ years of experience administering Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022), and 7+ years of expert knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.

 

Position Description: We seek an experienced Senior Windows Server System Administrator to design, implement, and maintain our enterprise Windows server infrastructure. This role requires deep technical expertise in Windows Server technologies and a proven track record of managing complex enterprise environments.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain Windows Server infrastructure, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
  • Lead the planning and execution of server upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities
  • Manage and optimize virtualization platforms (Hyper-V/VMware) and cloud infrastructure (Azure/AWS)
  • Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Monitor system performance and capacity planning
  • Develop and maintain documentation for systems, processes, and procedures
  • Provide escalated technical support and troubleshooting
  • Mentor junior system administrators and provide technical guidance
  • Participate in on-call rotation for critical system support

Required Skills:

  • 7+ years of experience administering Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022)
  • Expert knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP
  • Strong experience with virtualization technologies (Hyper-V and VMware)
  • Proven experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation
  • Knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing, firewalls)
  • Experience with monitoring tools and performance optimization
  • Microsoft certifications (MCSE, MCSA, or newer role-based certifications)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS)
  • Knowledge of configuration management tools (SCCM, Ansible)
  • Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools
  • Experience with security compliance frameworks HIPAA
